About Our Milk

We're partnering with the Bradford Store to have Homeland Creamery milk delivered to the store. The Bradford Store carries half-gallons of milk and specialty milk products. We will be ordering gallons of milk and half-gallons of specialty products.

For those of you who have not purchased this milk before at the Bradford Store, here's a little more information. Homeland Creamery is the Bowman Dairy, located in Julian, NC, Guilford County. I've visited several times...it's a great place to stop and grab a cone of ice cream! This is a fourth-generation dairy, one of only seven dairies left in that county. They are one of only a handful of dairies in NC who have the equipment needed to bottle and sell their milk directly to the public. Their cows graze in open pastures without antibiotics added to their feed and without artificial growth hormones.

We place our orders the Saturday before our scheduled farm run. The milk is typically available at the Bradford Store the Wednesday before our scheduled farm run. You can also wait until the farm run pickup on Saturday to pick up.

We will be placing milk orders every farm run.

Dietary Assessment of Major Trends in U.S. Food Consumption, 1970-2005

Cover Image

This is an interesting though disturbing report which examines major trends in US food consumption. The report also estimates whether Americans are meeting Federal dietary recommendations for each of the major food groups and findings show that, on the whole, we do not. For that to happen, Americans would need to substantially lower their intake of added fats, refined grains, and added sugars and sweeteners AND increase their consumption of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and low-fat milk and milk products.

Our local food club is helping us do that! To read the report, click on the links below.
