What Works? What Doesn't?

We're at a point where we have to decide where to go next. It would be helpful to hear more about your thoughts on how this pilot has worked. I will use this information to help me make decisions about what happens next. If you share your thoughts here as comments, it might be more helpful for everyone.

1) What things should we keep doing?

2) What things should we stop doing or do differently?

3) What things should we start doing?

4) What other thoughts do you have?

If you are interested in helping me make the decision about what happens next, join me at my house on Saturday, February 8 at 3:00. Email me for directions and to let me know you're coming. If you can't make it but want to give additional input, please email and let me know.

Thanks again for organizing this group, Christi. My family and I have really enjoyed learning about our local farmers and trying some new foods.

* I feel like I've been exposed to some great new farms and products. The mushrooms were a wonderful find and we're a big fan of Split Creek Creamery now. It's also been very convenient to order from some farmers who I really liked, but from whom I was not able to buy products from consistently like Grateful Growers and Goat Lady.

* The educational and social components of the group were very appealing to me. I'm interested in meeting others in the area interested and involved with local foods. I'm a member of Slow Food Charlotte, but with two young children, I cannot make it to many of the evening events in Ballantyne and Charlotte. I understand that with the holidays, it was difficult to plan many events, but I hope to see more in the future.

* I hope that the group continues into the spring and summer months because I'm very interested in more produce.

* For the future, should we consider tying into the new Davidson farmer's market?

I would be interested in joining the food club, but I don't see anything here about that process. Maybe membership is closed and if so I am sorry. Please let me (or us) know who to contact and obtain some information about it. Thanks so much!

My comments about the future of the food club are that I hope we/you will continue because I think it is fabulous! Changing the pick-up time to Saturday morning, rather than a week night, worked much, much better for me coming from Charlotte. You keeping us looped in to the events going on relating to food is a wonderful side benefit - I wish that I had more time to do all that I wanted to do (as I'm sure everyone does...).

First I want to tell you how much we have appreciated all the products that we have gotten through the food club. But I think that we will drop our membership and let someone else, who would use it more, take our place. We had been trying to cut down on our meat consumption for months, and I find myself buying (and of course, eating), more meat now that we belong to the club Secondly, I feel bad buying vegetable, eggs, milk and cheese through the club, because I had previously done it through the Bradford Store (I still do), and we feel a certain loyalty toward them.
We have really loved meeting people who have the same interest as we do in foods produced locally, and we want to thank you for all your amazing work.

1) What things should we keep doing?
I like the order process and pick up process. You've made it very easy and it allows each person to order to suite their family needs and tastes. It also allows us tor try new things in an approachable manner.
The price for the foods is very reasonable

2) What things should we stop doing or do differently?
It's working great and I hope the LFC continues. I'd like to find ways to continue to support the Bradford Farm as much as possible. Without their cooperation and support the LFC wouldn't work as well.

3) What things should we start doing?
More information about the farms. When we had the food tasting and could talk with the farmers it became personal and I found myself wanting to support the farmers even more.

4) What other thoughts do you have?
I'd like to see what other people are doing with their food. Recipes, or just menu ideas. Like, I made a frittata this week with with the fresh mushrooms, milk, and eggs. I added a beet salad with beets from Bradford farm and local goat cheese. It was simple and so good. There are so many news foods it waould be great to take advantage of peoples experience.

I love the food and I love the convenience. I especially love the organic meat source. That's hard to find. As kinfolk of Grier's and Kim's I'm anxious to not buy things that I could instead buy from them. But otherwise, I love it. I think there can be brilliant cross-pollination between the two enterprises. I'm anxious to see you make some money at this so you continue it. I want the lovely fresh meats in my freezer all the time, and enjoy, as well, the other offerings. Thank you for all you've done for all of us, for your energy and imagination.

We have LOVED the LFC and hope it continues. I havn't
really noted any problems or things I'm unhappy with.
I just hope there's enough interest to keep it going!
